Inspired by traditional sweets, nostalgic candy shop jars, and the soft pastel tones of braided marshmallow cables. I hand-built this miniature single espresso cup in our South Wales studio, capturing a joyful spectrum of playful candy tones.
This stoneware espresso mug honours the quiet luxury of bespoke studio pottery. The piece features a beautifully tactile, organic cup form paired with an eccentric, interlocking ceramic braided handle that mimics those classic sweet shop candy twists.
It serves as an incredibly fun companion for your morning caffeine ritual. However, it functions just as beautifully on your desk as a quirky holder for tiny studio treasures or paperclips.
I shaped this one-of-a-kind cup entirely by hand using a raw white stoneware clay body before hand-sculpting the individual braided links at my South Wales workbench. Plus, I hand-painted the interlocking handle loops with bright turquoise, sunny yellow, and bubblegum pink underglazes.
Even better, a fully glossy, food-safe clear glaze coats the entire piece to make the confectionery colours pop beautifully. That way, you get a beautiful hit of visual dopamine every time you take a morning sip.
Specifications & Care
- Materials & Glazes: Premium high-fired white stoneware clay finished with an all-over, food-safe and non-toxic clear glossy glaze over a hand-painted multi-tonal underglaze handle design.
- Braided Link Ergonomics: I carefully looped and interlocked distinct ceramic braided segments to build the handle. That way, you get an incredibly unique, tactile grip while you enjoy your espresso.
- Dimensions: Standard single espresso size, holding exactly 60ml, scaled perfectly to nestle comfortably in the palm of your hand.
- Care Instructions: While the high-fired glossy glaze provides excellent durability, we highly recommend gentle hand washing to safeguard the interlocking ceramic braided handle over time.
