Inspired by the fluid alignment of natural horizon arches and bright color bursts in the sky. I created this four-piece architectural tableware puzzle capturing a joyful spectrum of graphic symbols.
This stoneware nesting set honors the quiet luxury of bespoke studio pottery. The group features four cylinders that stack neatly into an interactive desk sculpture when your dinner party concludes. Meaning, they function just as beautifully across your dining table as a set of conversational, fun napkin rings.
I shaped the interlocking columns on the wheel using a premium white stoneware clay body at my South Wales workbench.
Then, I hand-carved deep dimensional grooved paths across the stacked outer walls before adding bright coral, sunny yellow, and turquoise underglazes. Even better, a clear glossy glaze highlights the colourful shapes beautifully on the outer surface.
Specifications & Care
- Materials & Glazes: Premium high-fired white stoneware clay finished with an all-over, food-safe clear glossy glaze that dynamically highlights the colourful hand-carved exterior shapes.
- Dual-Purpose Configuration: The sculpture splits into four individual, hollow-centered napkin rings. That way, you can dress a four-person tablescape beautifully or stack them vertically on a shelf to re-align the hidden graphic rainbow pattern.
- Dimensions: Approximately 18cm in total stacked height by 7.5cm in diameter, perfectly proportioned to hold standard linen or cloth napkins.
- Care Instructions: While the glossy glaze provides excellent durability, we highly recommend gentle hand washing to preserve the bright underglaze tones over time.
